Finding Serenity Within a Chaotic World
God’s Word Regarding The Immoral Behavior of Today’s Society
“Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away.”
(Mark, Chapter 13, Verse 31)
God’s word is revealed to us through the Bible. It is also referred to as The Holy Scriptures. Through the Bible, God reveals
-
his love for us,
-
his compassion for us,
-
his mercy for us,
-
his commandments for us,
-
and plan for salvation for us.
God’s word does not change over time. It is the same as it was in the past, as it is now, and will be in the future; WITHOUT CHANGE ! God is perfect, so his word is perfect and truthful. Part of being truthful is revealing the darker, sinful side of human behavior.
“Do not love the world, nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.” (1 John, Chapter 2, Verses 15 - 16)
Although there are other immoral behaviors that God condemns besides those which are shown here; these are among the worst that are committed.
IMMORAL BEHAVIORS
1. Abortion:
Exodus, Chap 21. Verses 22 - 25:
“And if men struggle with each other and strike a woman with child so that she has a miscarriage, yet there is no further injury, he shall be fined as the woman’s husband may demand of him; and he shall pay as the judges decide.
But if there is any further injury, then you shall appoint as a penalty
Life for Life,
Eye for Eye,
Tooth for Tooth,
Hand for Hand,
Foot for Foot,
Burn for Burn,
Wound for Wound,
Bruise for Bruise.”
2. Adultery:
Leviticus, Chap 18, Verse 20:
“You shall not have intercourse with your neighbor’s wife, to be defiled with her.”
3. Beastiality:
Leviticus, Chap 20, Verse 15:
“If there is a man who lies with an animal, he shall surely be put to death; you shall also kill the animal.”
Leviticus, Chap 20, Verse 16:
“If there is a woman who approaches any animal to mate with it, you shall kill the woman and the animal; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.”
4. Sodomy:
Leviticus, Chap 20, Verse 13:
“If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death. Their bloodguiltiness is upon them.”
5. Idolatry / Worship of Idols / Worship of Statues:
Exodus Chap 20, Verse 2 - 6:
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. You shall have no other gods before Me. You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth.
You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep my commandments.”
6. Incest:
Leviticus, Chap 20, Verse 11:
“If there is a man who lies with his father’s wife, he has uncovered his father’s nakedness (*3); both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.”
(*3: meaning only the father is allowed to see his wife’s nakedness)
Leviticus, Chap 20, Verse 12:
“If there is a man who lies with his daughter-in-law, both of them shall surely be put to death; they have committed incest, their bloodguiltiness is upon them.”
Deuteronomy, Chap 27, Verse 22:
“Cursed is he who lies with his sister, the daughter of his father or of his mother.”
Deuteronomy, Chap 27, Verse 23:
“Cursed is he who lies with his mother-in-law.”
7. Men Wearing Woman’s Clothing and Women Wearing Men’s Clothing:
Deuteronomy, Chapter 22, Verse 5:
“A woman shall not wear man’s clothing, nor shall a man put on a woman’s clothing; for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God.”
8. Voyeurism Between Blood Relatives:
Leviticus, Chap 18, Verse 6 (also 7 - 17):
“None of you shall approach any blood relative of his to uncover nakedness; I am the Lord.”
